Woke up this morning to a winter wonderland... ice and frost on EVERYTHING.
I snapped a quick picture of the frost on the trees from our back deck. Very chilly out there, even with socks on!

I just got done getting most of the wet, slimy leaves swept and raked off our driveway, stairs and porch (and put into the yard waste bin so they won't be making a repeat appearance), finishing only slightly ahead of nightfall. If you've never had the pleasure of dealing with wet, slimy leaves... well, they're heavy and icky and not easy to corral, even with a pushbroom. However, we're expecting snow tonight (Snow! Tonight!! Last winter we got no snow at all!) and the last thing I wanted was wet, slimy leaves all over the driveway with freezing temperatures and then snow on top of everything. We've had that happen before and it completely reinvents the word "slippery."

Even though it's decidely nippy out, there's also that lovely smell of impending snow in the air. Of course, if we wind up getting a lot of the stuff this year, it won't stay lovely for long, but I love the crisp, cold clearness of it when it first shows up.

I had an appointment with a bra-fitter from Essential Bodywear at Curves today... and for the very first time in my life, I've found an underwire bra that actually gives me support and *doesn't* jab me in the ribs, sternum, armpit or arm. Yay! I've ordered one (and only one, because they're expensive and who knows how well it will work after I've worn it for a bit), but it probably won't be in until around the first of the year, because apparently Oprah just gushed about them on her show a week or so ago. Hopefully this will be a bra I won't wind up hating (like every other one I've ever tried) as a necessary evil, and it did seem to be incredibly comfortable during the short amount of time I wore it.

Of course, being a properly fitting bra, it means that I'll have to get used to having Breasts of Doom... sticking out and getting in the way. There's a reason why reduction surgery is high on my list of things to do with potential future monetary windfalls.

Yup, Oprah's big perfect-bra-and-perfect-jeans show was about 10 days ago, during which that famous stat about 80%+ of women wearing the wrong bra was thrown around. I've never had a professional fitting, but I'm pretty comfortable with what I've got (even if it's wrong!). Then again, I don't have "Breasts of Doom" (LOL). Hope this new bra works out for you!

I knew I was wearing the wrong size, but really, there aren't too many places that sell F-cups, so I made do with DD and was mostly happy with them. It is worth getting a professional fitting, if you have the opportunity, because I'd thought I was happy with what I had until I tried on that one today. It's funny, too, because the stupid thing has been chafing all day, even though it normally seems to work just fine!

Those of us with Breasts Of Doom should definitely spend money on good bras and professional fitting. I can also recommend Nordstrom's; they won't be any less expensive, but they've got well trained salespeople and a good selection, I've found.

Ooh! I'm excited for your braliness! I used to have perfectly comfortable bras, until I, er, gained weight (SIGH!!!) and then I was suddenly like, omg, this is awful! And I have yet to find anything else to match the specific brand I used to buy.

Thanks!

This is the other reason I only ordered one... I'm currently on the downhill slope of the weight thing, and if I can keep up with what I'm doing, it's actually possible that the bra I just ordered will no longer fit by the time it arrives!

*crosses fingers that the holidays don't blow it all out of the water*

Ooh, pretty picture. Our temperature went back up to the mid 60s again today after we froze our butts off on Thanksgiving.

I actually took it to possibly use for Where I Live Day, but figured it would be a good one to share today, too!

I've thought about reduction surgery, but whenever I get to the part where I could lose sensation in my nipples, I back off.

But keep us posted about the bra. An underwire that doesn't double as a tourture device would be wonderful.

Oh, hmmm... you know? I'd never heard about that. I wonder how common it is... I've talked to a few different women who just rave about the procedure, which is why I'm still so enthused about the idea, myself. Might have to do a bit more reading on it, then!

An underwire that doesn't double as a tourture device would be wonderful.

That's how I've always viewed underwires: society's method for punishing those of us who are too well-endowed. :-p

I found I rather liked bras after I lost all that weight; suddenly underwires didn't jab me anymore and elastic didn't dig in all the time. Of course, I could have been wearing bras that were too small then! :) I keep thinking about getting a professional fitting, but the cost always deters me... I found a 36C pushup at Big Lots the other day and it gives me the most Cordelia-like cleavage, I find I rather enjoy it.

What a beautiful picture!

There's a reason why reduction surgery is high on my list of things to do with potential future monetary windfalls. And don't let anyone tell you it's a waste of money etc. I am lucky, I'm a D cup, but I know people who's boobs are the bane of their lives. One of my daughter's friends has been told that she can have a breast reduction on the NHS once she is 18 - at 17 she is 5'0" and is an H cup - her shoulders are permanantly sore, she gets back-ache and she has to get specially fitted bras. Good luck with getting the money.

That's a large part of why I want to get it done... my shoulders and upper back are nearly always sore from supporting the stupid weight, and I really have to watch my posture for the same reason. I really don't understand women who go out of their way to get *bigger* breasts. Ouch.

I want to do a bra-fitting, as well, but I'm hoping to wait until I lose some more weight so I can make a good investment in bras.

As for the pictures, quite lovely! I love it when ice covers everything on a sunny day. (Well, when I don't have to drive anywhere, that is.)

There's a reason why reduction surgery is high on my list of things to do with potential future monetary windfalls. I'm sadly addicted to a show on the Discovery Health Channel called Plastic Surgery Before & After and they often do stories on breast reduction. Every single woman is just delighted with the results, they can stand better, clothes fit better, everything is good.
That's a great photo off your deck. We went from weather in the teens for Thanksgiving Day to 63 degrees yesterday. No wonder people are hacking and coughing all over the place.

I had breast reduction surgery nearly five years ago and still regard it as one of the best things I've ever done for myself. It might be worth checking out if your health insurance will cover part of the cost (my Mom's did hers...I had mine done in NZ, so different circumstances), most do if there is a medically supportable (no pun intended) reason...back problems, especially.

Oh, I'm right there with you, hon. That, or I have insurance that'll cover a significant portion of the bill. I'm a 40J and getting fitted at a specialty store in Portland was the best thing in a long, long time - properly fitting bras are so wonderful.

I saw that you're not a member of this group (http://www.livejournal.com/community/breastreduction/). You might want to check them out.

Also: pretty frost! Hee! We've had some nice mornings kind of like that down here in the Willamette Valley - we're predicting a hard, snowy winter (a nice change for me after three years in California...).

Oh! Thank you! That's just the sort of thing I was looking for... and they've already been talking about a lot of the things I was wondering about.

And I hadn't realized you were back in Oregon! Very cool!

I also visit here (http://www.breastreduction4you.com/cgi-bin/forum/index.cgi?) from time to time.

Yup, been back since September! Still no snow, but then it's very rare to get snow around here before New Year's...

Very pretty :)

And I've given up with underwires. Thankfully, I'm on the smaller end of the scale... a C... but each wire just seems to dig in and leave marks. Of course, I need to lose weight also which may help.

The wif went last nite and got a fitting. She may actually buy ones with wires now, since she was wearing them 2 inches too big, they were nasty, but the "real" size does fine. Now I won't have to stand around for perpetuity waiting on the perfect bra, oh wait this one has wires, let me keep looking... ;)
