I have found as I've gotten further and further into my piano lessons that I absolutely love playing through new music for the first time... in particular, fresh music that is just a tiny step above my current level of competency. It's both invigorating and tiring, and I can't get enough of it.

And the really cool part is that after I've played a piece like that, I can go back immediately to an older piece I've been working on and just play it right through smoothly... and there's a certain level of energy involved in that too. Of course, then I usually have to shut the keyboard off and step away, because I wasn't kidding about the tiring part -- it can be almost physically draining to work through a new piece of music. And yet I feel all bouncy at the same time.

So, so glad I decided to finally just do it when it came to piano lessons, after all those years of thinking about it. And I can't believe I only started them less than eight months ago...

I'm glad you're enjoying the piano so much.

You'll find you get more and more stamina as you progress. One of my favorite things to do is to sit down late at night and just play for a couple of hours. You're exhausted, but you sleep so well afterwards!

Good for you for sticking with it and getting to the stage where it's enjoyable. I wish I'd stuck to my lessons when I was at University. I'd changed my joint honours subject from history (something creepy about my history tutor) to music and found myself (as a self taught guitarist) having to learn piano as my 'major' instrument at the ripe old age of 19. I think the lack of a piano in my lodgings may have had something to do with my failure with the instrument.

I'm definitely too old now - and haven't the room for a piano in the house in any case.

I'm so jealous! I took piano lessons for 13 years but have no access to a piano now. I can't wait to buy my own place just so that I can have a piano again. LOL

Glad you're enjoying the lessons. :)

Since you're feeling good, I'll add some more good news: Warners has now OFFICIALLY announced that Anamaniacs & Pinky & the Brain will be out on DVD next year, probably around July 25th.

Yay, piano playing. Let me know if you end up getting that full-sized keyboard. (Justin will be very jealous).
