Well, one big benefit of having to prop my foot up for large stretches of time... I'm can finally get current with a bunch of television shows that have been back-logged.

Catch-up Fest #1: "24"

I was so relieved when Michelle stepped on the scene... about as relieved as I was when Tony first made an appearance. Because, I've gotta say, the current CTU seems to be filled with a bunch of obnoxious, ragingly incompetent, backstabbing, conniving idiots.

I'm also still wondering what's really going on... what the real incentive is behind the bad guys' actions. It's obviously not as straightforward as they first tried to present it, but the writers aren't tipping their hands yet.

Oh, and then there's Jack and Paul... apparently, the way to do some serious male bonding with the husband of your girlfriend is to torture him in her presence. I actually suspect that Jack is once again going to end up unlucky in love this season... 'cause I don't think she's going to stick around after getting a glimpse of what he's capable of doing. Plus, I'm beginning to think Paul is a goner (when she asked Jack to watch out for him, I think she fairly effectively signed his death warrant).

Getting a little tired of all the torture though... seems like not an episode goes by without someone getting tortured, usually by the good guys. I can understand the reasoning behind it, but do we really need to be treated to torture every.single.week?

Michelle????

Unfortunately, our TiVo erased last week's 24 before we could watch it. What happened with Michelle?

Shoot. If I'd know, I could have run it off and sent it with the other DVDs I mailed to you last week.

To sum up the ending of the ep (you really do want to take a look at a good recap, if you can find one0: Driscoll resigned as head of CTU after her daughter committed suicide and Tony was placed in as temporary head of the Agency by Secretary of Defense Heller. At the very end of the episode, a replacement department head was sent in... someone nearby who had a lot of experience at CTU: Michelle.

Tony was, understandably, a bit gob-smacked... and Heller asked if Tony knew her. Tony explained that they'd been married.

I love Tony and Michelle... I hope this is a step toward putting them back together.

Tony and Michelle ROCK. TiVo has been good at keeping spoilers quiet--they just refer to "The New Head of CTU decides to blah blah blah." Not naming names.

That's great--thanks. Don't worry about the DVD copy--24 is such that we can skip an ep here and there and get caught up easily.

"I've gotta say, the current CTU seems to be filled with a bunch of obnoxious, ragingly incompetent, backstabbing, conniving idiots."

And this differs from earlier CTUs how? :D

I'm with you on the Michelle and Tony - when Tony first appeared, I actually cheered! I like some of this season's characters - e.g, Edgar is fun. I hope Chloe comes back. But it will be interesting to see how having Tony and Michelle in the same room plays out.

I haven't quite figured out what the point of Erin's daughter's suicide was. At the moment, it seems like random angst.

And, yeah, this season has been pretty heavy on the torture. I can't imagine how they're going to keep Jack and whatshername together after having Jack torture her husband in front of her.
