fenchurch: (Cake is a Lie)
So, the 19th was my birthday... and aside from going hiking and going out to Haiku for dinner, [personal profile] rackham also broke one of our traditions and gave me jewelry as a present. But really, it just proves once again that I have the most incredible husband in the world! )

Last weekend, we were very happy to be able to have [personal profile] rahirah and [personal profile] wildrider come stay with us while they were visiting the Seattle area... and, even better, we got to take them around and show off some of the non-Seattle sights that we love so much!

One of the places we definitely wanted to take them was Snoqualmie Falls and we figured this would be a good time to try finding the brand new lower parking lot (it used to be that the only way to get to the bottom of the falls was to walk down a winding trail from up near Salish Lodge). Thank heavens for the car GPS, because there certainly weren't any signs anywhere to help us along. The view is definitely worth it. )

A few weeks ago, we'd noticed that the birds seemed to be going through an insane amount of birdseed (we were having to refill our rather large feeder nearly every day) and while we *have* had a lot of birds coming to the feeder, it just seemed oddly extreme. Then, while I was on my Kentucky/Ohio trip, [personal profile] rackham spied the actual problem... as he told me over the phone, our bird feeder was being raided by Venison-Americans. )

I'd been meaning to snap a shot of these flowers for a few days, but finally remembered to grab the camera and head out there on Monday morning... thankfully managing to get a photo before they wilted away entirely.

I think they're lilies? )

Some friends gave Roger Roger to us for Christmas one year, wrapped in a small coffin-shaped box. We actually keep him tied to a chair these days, because he falls apart fairly easily... and for some reason, Numfar is convinced that he loves her and will pet her at any moment if she just hangs around long enough.

A cat and her cardboard robot friend. )
