21 June - Snoqualmie Falls, Another View
Jun. 29th, 2014 03:04 pmLast weekend, we were very happy to be able to have
rahirah and
wildrider come stay with us while they were visiting the Seattle area... and, even better, we got to take them around and show off some of the non-Seattle sights that we love so much!
One of the places we definitely wanted to take them was Snoqualmie Falls and we figured this would be a good time to try finding the brand new lower parking lot (it used to be that the only way to get to the bottom of the falls was to walk down a winding trail from up near Salish Lodge). Thank heavens for the car GPS, because there certainly weren't any signs anywhere to help us along. The view is definitely worth it.

I've actually posted photos of the falls taken from the top on 25 January of this year and then again on 7 March to show the huge difference in water levels. If you look at the bottom of the above photo, you can actually see some people who had scaled all the new fencing and clambered over the rocks to get down there (before the recent remodel of the trail and viewing area, access was still open to anyone who wanted to go... and there are even still a few ladders left in the rocks).
