May 23 & 24 - Sidewalk art & a shy lizard

( While out running errands on the 23rd, I stumbled across this nice bit of sidewalk chalk art. )

On the 24th, I dived headlong into yardwork, but rackham was still recovering from The Plague and decided he really needed to make sure he didn't over-do it. So, he spent time working on projects around the house... including cleaning the lizard tank! This involved putting poor Muerte into a box off to the side, so the entire tank could be vacuumed and wiped down. After Rackham was done, he opened the box and stuck it in the tank, assuming Muerte would be happy to be free of it. Turned out, he liked the box just fine!

May 25 & 27 - More flowers & lots of fabric

Skipping around a little bit, since these two were fairly boring photos and could easily be combined.

( On the 25th, I got a good photo of another of the lovely purple flowers in our yard. )

Skipping ahead to the 27th, I was out on the hunt for fun fabric and was ( impressed by the huge variety of funky prints that are available these days! )

May 28 - Birds!!!!

As the crow flies, we're really not that far from our old place... maybe 15 miles? And yet there is such a huge difference in the types of birds we're seeing. I mean, there are a few of the more common sorts that we've now seen at both places: sparrows, chickadees, Steller's Jays, crows, and robins. I think we may have seen Great Blue Herons a tad more often at the old house, but they do show up here, too... and in balance, I think I saw a bald eagle at the old place once or twice, while here I see several every day, flying overhead.

We've got a bird feeder set up just outside one of the big picture windows, to act as a cat entertainment center... And I kept seeing a flash of yellow when I'd walk by, but never managed to get a really good look at what was there. ( Well, I finally managed to spot it and actually get a photo. )

( And then a little later, he came back with several of his friends! )
