"My Name Is Earl"
Sep. 20th, 2005 09:26 pmWell, that was a surprise, and the show hadn't even been on my radar before tonight...
We've been looking in on the neighbors' cat while they're in Europe and I've been trying to spend 15 minutes to half an hour with her every day, when possible (she's just seems so lonely). So, tonight I settled down on the couch, cat on my lap, and started flipping through channels... and I happened to pause for a moment on "My Name is Earl" right as it was starting. It's been an incredibly long time since I've enjoyed a US sitcom, but they've finally come up with one that I think I might give a chance! Not at all what I would have expected, based on the title.
Had a very odd moment tonight with our new cat! Zoƫ has turned out to be quite the climber... and a moment ago I started hearing odd noises coming from the other side of the room. Turned out, she'd managed to climb up the back of the old entertainment center (currently buried behind boxes from the garage) and was scrabbling around on the back of the old television, trying to find a foothold. Unfortunately, the phalanx of boxes meant that I couldn't get to her, even when she started to slowly slip off the back (complete with panicked look in her eyes and followed by a loud *thunk*).
I grabbed a flashlight, and apparently illumination was what she needed, because she then proceeded to walk *diagonally*, with her back braced against the wall and her paws on the flat back of the entertainment center at a 45 degree angle, until she could hop down. I wish I'd grabbed the camera, though I doubt it would have looked nearly as impressive as a still shot.
rackham just reminded me that we had similar climbing problems with Cymry when she was young (she once opened an upper cupboard door and scaled three shelves in order to reach the catnip).
