You know, I've noticed that this one seems to be popping up a lot on my flist when it comes to this little quiz. Australia is one of those places where you visit once and it just keeps calling to you. We've been once, and I would go again in a heartbeat... I'd love to live there, if the opportunity arose. What else can you say about a country that takes the best of British cooking (yeah, I like British food, shut up) and mixes in its own flair... plus, they've got Lemon Squash practically everywhere! - buffy the vampire slayer:
When I first saw the ads for the show, it looked like it was going to take my favorite part of the movie, the witty dialogue, and go somewhere fresh and interesting with the plot, and I was right. I enjoyed the show during the first season, but got completely hooked after "School Hard" aired in Season Two. Three guesses as to why, and the first two don't count. - doctor who:
When I saw my first episode of Doctor Who (Doctor #4) back when I was 10, I didn't really care for it. I was home sick from school and there was a marathon on our local PBS station (having just gotten the series from the UK). My mom loved it, so I was "forced" to watch with her, and by the end of the day I was hooked. Nine has recently supplanted Five as my favorite Doctor, but it was a tough choice. - firefly:
What can I say? I'm a sucker for witty dialogue and for a funky premise. Some of the science (or lack thereof) makes me cringe a bit, but the rest is so good it's easy to suspend my disbelief. Wonderful characters, good writing, interesting plots, and hopefully not dead yet. I've seen "Serenity" three times already, and the movie doesn't open until next week - great big sea:
I don't know how we missed this group for so long. We discovered them almost by accident. I think it was a referral on the old MP3.com (when the site was still good) that led us to some of their songs, which led to Rackham tracking down and downloading some of their CDs from various shady online sources, which led us to buying everything they've ever done, and eventually to going to some incredible concerts. They rank just under Oingo Boingo as my favorite group of all time. - lds church:
Pretty self explanatory... I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (aka LDS Church aka the Mormons). I don't think I've talked about it much on my LJ, because I mostly use this space for more fannish things. It does come up from time to time, though, since it's part of my everyday life. - oingo boingo:
My favorite group of all time. I was lucky enough to see them in concert twice, including their Farewell Tour (where I suspect Danny Elfman and I were the only two barefoot people at the event). Odds are, unless you're from certain areas in the Western US, you've only ever heard "Weird Science" and "Dead Man's Party" -- it's well worth tracking down more of their stuff. Those two aren't bad, apart from being overplayed, but they're certainly not the group's best. - rational anarchy:
Over the years various friends have accused me of reading "too much Heinlein." Personally, I don't think that's possible. ;-) Rational Anarchy was a philosophy adhered to by a major character in The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. I liked the idea, and it's what eventually led me to Libertarianism... the closest political philosophy I could find in the real world. - sharpies:
Sharpies are cool. Sharpies are neat. Sharpies can help you draw on your feet. And, you know, everything else. My favorite are the double-ended sharpies, now available in a variety of colors. - spike:
Ha! There's not enough room for me wax eloquent about Spike, and there's nothing I can say in this small space that I haven't said over the years in greater detail. I love the character, with all his flaws and all his strengths.
Even more than that, Spike fandom has introduced me to some of the most wonderful people over the years; people who have become essential parts of my life.

Date: 2005-09-21 04:48 am (UTC)I think mostly because they were playing at the Del Mar Fair the next day and the parents of the kids at my high school were disgustingly rich (not mine or at least my mom anyway).
