Trapped in the house

You know, there's nothing like not being able to leave the house to make you want to be somewhere else. Honestly, there's nowhere I need to be and I absolute do NOT want to try driving... and yet ever since I woke up this morning, I've been antsy to go do something. Not that there's anywhere I'd be able to go, even if I was stupid enough to try driving anywhere.
rackham's office is closed... which makes sense, since authorities are telling people to stay home unless it's an emergency. The roads are covered in thick sheets of ice and it's not likely to change, since we're not going to get above freezing today, so no ice melting that way.
And remember that TrafficCam shot I posted last night? Apparently, I-405 was closed all night and finally reopened not too long ago... they were interviewing people on the news who had made it back to the Park & Ride not too far up the road from us, which is where they slept last night. Some of them ended up with a 15 hour commute home from work. The highway department did an absolutely wretched job of letting people know the road was closed, though, so people kept piling up, assuming it was slow but clear. In fact, Rackham had to do some digging on the King County Metro website last night before he found the closure notice. It was at that point that we called Mekle back and Rackham acted as Operator (a la "The Matrix") using various traffic cameras, road condition reports and Local Live Maps to guide him through the surface streets to his home neighborhood... even then, it took another hour for him to get there. OTOH, at least he didn't end up with a 15 hour commute! Yikes!
Hee! On the news, they were just showing a series of TrafficCam shots from around the area with "Ice Ice Baby" playing in the background.
