Home again!
Jul. 27th, 2006 07:07 pmMy plane landed about 20 minutes late last night... which isn't half bad, since we left San Jose about 30 minutes late (there was some problem with the original plane, so they swapped it out for a different one -- I'm certainly not going to complain too much about that) and at least the San Jose airport was running their air conditioning, unlike the Orange County one! Ugh. All those people, huge windows everywhere letting in the sun, and NO AIR CONDITIONING. I'm surprised there weren't fist-fights! Yeesh. Talk about a way to make tempers flare!
One of the first things I did when I got home was watch this week's episode of "Treasure Hunters" (largely because
rackham had watched it when it aired and anxiously wanted to talk to me about it). This week was just as good as every other... I still can't believe I've actually found a reality show I like!
It was fun seeing the groups go to France and England, though I don't think they got to see much of either place. I loved how every once in awhile, one of them would just screech to a halt and realize "Oh wow... that's the Eiffel Tower!" or somesuch before heading off at a run again. I was NOT surprised that the Geniuses figured out the lemon juice on the paper trick right away, and I am a bit shocked that it took everyone else so long to get it. Honestly, it was the first thing I thought of... with that huge blank space on the paper and all those candles hanging around.
And, finally, the Fogal Family is gone!!! Yay!!! No more having to fast forward through so many of their scenes every week (every time Kayte whined, screamed or threw a tantrum, and every time the family "prayed" (I have such a hard time calling it prayer, considering how awful they were and how hypocritical the prayers usually ended up being)). At least I didn't totally despise them by the end... I think they had finally realized that the way they were playing the game wasn't actually going to help them in the end (i.e. they had forgotten the golden rule: do unto others as you would have them do unto you -- they actively screwed over too many of the other teams, who then actively screwed them over).
The other thing that was a relief was that it looked like the players were finally able to catch up on a bit of sleep with all the traveling they were doing (sleeping on the plane, sleeping on the ferry), because I was getting exhausted just watching them.
Followed that up with Monday's "Tonight Show" in order to watch Headlines. Yes, we're longtime Headlines junkies. It actually worked well as a method of gauging how far along the healing process we were after the accident... because in the first few weeks we had to pause the show, practically every few seconds, in order to quit laughing because it hurt so bad. Thankfully, that hasn't been a problem for a long time now.
And then, bliss... sleeping in my own bed, not needing air conditioning because it was cool enough outside to be comfortable anyway! Ahhhh....
Today I hit the ground running... though not walking, since
taradaktyl and I hadn't made any arrangements to get together for our normal morning walk. It's just as well, because I had a piano lesson (which went horribly -- I hadn't been able to practice at all in the previous week) and then I had PT, which took half an hour longer than normal. Now I'm sore. Not like I wasn't sore to begin with, either. Hmmph. My PT did get approval for me to have a session with acupuncturist next week, so I'm really looking forward to that.
I was a little disappointed when it looked like no one at the PT clinic had ever heard of "Snakes on a Plane" (I wore my t-shirt today). Then, when I went to tell the one slightly-fannish PT about the release of "The Tick" animated series on DVD later this year (oh, yeah... that's the other bit of news from Comic-Con I forgot to mention!), he spotted the shirt and actually yelled "Snakes on a Plane!!!!!!!!!" Hee! I should have guessed he'd know what it was.

Date: 2006-07-28 03:37 pm (UTC)The Animaniacs/Pinky & the Brain panel I went to at Comic-Con was about the DVD release (they even showed some of the special features), which just got me even more excited about it.
Of course, now I'm also reeeeeaaalllly looking forward to the release of "The Tick" animated series later this year (finally!!).
