Finally got to see X-Men: Last Stand last weekend and quite enjoyed it! I have to agree with the comments I've seen that it seemed a little less character-driven, but there was enough eye-candy that I'm not sure I care. ;-) I'd heard that we needed to stick around through the credits (something we usually do anyway), but I was amazed to see some people leaving right at the beginning of the last scene. I guess they figured it was all over so they didn't need to stick around, but they not only missed the zinger after the credits, they missed the zinger at the end of the movie. Sheesh. About half the people stuck around for the very end and there was, I kid you not, this collective "ooooooooooo" through the theater. Very funny!
My heart still belongs to Alton Brown, but Rachael Ray has certainly got some great recipes. We bought a large cast iron grill pan after going to see X-Men on Saturday, so tonight I made Why-the-Chicken-Crossed-the-Road Santa Fe-Tastic Tortilla Soup. Like most of her recipes, I think the only way you could possibly fit them into 30 minutes is if you've done them a dozen times and know EXACTLY what needs to be done when... it took me nearly an hour, but oh, was it GOOD. I'll be doing this one again... though I might see about dragging
rackham in to help. We actually really enjoy cooking together, but since the accident, I've also taken a great deal of joy out of being able to cook a meal by myself (finally!).
Yesterday I got a Poland postcard from
fenwic!! Squee!!! My inner philatelist rejoices at the nifty stamps!
I had a followup visit with my doctor today... he was very pleased with my progress, but definitely thinks I need to keep up the physical therapy. And he's also referring me to an Orthopedic Surgeon to look at my left (i.e. the non-broken) shoulder. The word "surgery" was mentioned a few times, though it's still only a remote possibility. I suspect I'll be getting an MRI or somesuch before this is all over... I don't go in to see the OS until the first week of July though (since I'm heading out of town for the last week of June).
And, finally, while I was down in Sacramento, Rackham potted a bunch of plants I'd picked up before I left... so we once again have a decent collection of herbs in the garden window and a small garden growing on our back deck.

And yes, that viny-looking plant is, in fact, passionfruit!
taradaktyl found a place that sells passionfruit plants (vines?), which will supposedly grow here during the summer and can spend the winter in either a greenhouse or a really sunny window (we'll have to see how that goes). I'm just really excited about the possibilities of fresh passionfruit on my back deck!
