Heading out to Sacramento

Modern life is just so... neat.
I woke up this morning with the realization that I'd be falling asleep tonight in the guest room at my grandparents' house, two states away.
Even better, unless my grandfather has been tinkering with his wireless broadcaster, I should already be set up and ready to go on my laptop... so, wireless broadband while I'm visiting. Yay!!
I'm fairly certain I don't have anyone on my flist in the Sacramento area, but it never hurts to ask... I'm probably going to have a bit of free time while I'm there this weekend, which at this point I'm planning on filling up with visits to some of the local sights. So far, I'm hoping to get out to the Olive Pit (always a must) and maybe over to a place I haven't been since I was a child, Fairytale Town (mostly I'm just curious as to which memories are from there and which are from Storybook Island in Rapid City, South Dakota).

Date: 2006-06-01 08:46 pm (UTC)It's pretty much a family tradition... my parents always stopped in there whenever we went to visit my grandparents and I've seen no reason to quit!
And please, uh - keep all four wheels firmly on the pavement, K?
Heh! Don't worry, I will! Although I'm actually flying, this trip. It's about a two day drive down to Sacramento from here, and I didn't think I was quite up to doing it on my own.

Date: 2006-06-02 09:35 pm (UTC)As for the Olive Pit, well... I actually took a look at it and felt a bit silly. It always seemed to be so close to Sacramento, which I guess it is if you've been driving all day on the way down from Seattle. :-p It's almost two hours north of here, so I won't be going. However, they do mail order, so I may have to give that a try sometime.

I'm thinking of heading out to Beale on Sunday for the Air Show (the Thunderbirds are supposed to be there!) and I'm also thinking of doing the Zoo and FairyTale Town on Monday... but otherwise I'm mostly just hanging out at my grandparents' house all weekend.
