Not quite what I was expecting. I'd figured a lot of the stuff with the patient for being hallucinations fairly early on, since it just seemed to fit, and I also put good odds on the shooter-as-patient as well, since it seemed weird he'd be put in a bed right next to House with no guard. Still, that was a good twist.

[livejournal.com profile] missmurchison brought up the interesting point that the whole episode felt very much like the world does when you're in a drugged state after surgery (or in my case, an accident). The episode actually exhausted me, because I kept flashing back to my experiences on the drive from Burley to Provo with my in-laws the day after the accident... when I was drugged out of my mind on pain killers and whacked out due to lack of sleep from pain. It was five hours of teeny micro-dreams that I had a very hard time telling from reality and that kept scaring me awake over and over again, until I was struggling hard to not fall asleep and failing miserably. Ugh. I didn't want to ever think of that again.

That said, I did love the episode... especially how, when you look back on it, everyone was being so logical and reasoning in conversations with House, which makes sense since they were really just projections of his own mind.

This show is a fairly recent addiction for me... I caught an occasional episode last season, but it wasn't until about halfway through this season that I finally got hooked. What that really means is that I've been puzzling over all the people who seemed to be big House/Cameron (I can't bring myself to type H/C, because my fanfic addled brain instantly leaps to hurt/comfort) shippers... I just never saw it (in fact, for me the big source of UST and sparkage seemed to be coming from House/Wilson), until I happened to catch a first season episode in reruns last week and finally saw the one where Cameron basically bribes House into asking her on a date. And then there was tonight, where it's pretty obvious that House's brain is all about undressing her in new and interesting ways. Hmmm. I think it might be time to pick up the first season on DVD.

Oh yeah, there's definitely something going on underneath the surface between the two of them. Whether Shore is ever going to let it bubble to the surface is another matter, damn him.

I'd guessed that it was all taking place while he lay on the floor after immediately getting shot, but Barb and Maggie thought it was while he was under the medication on the table - good twists. I love this show! I'm with you on the first season DVDs. I think it's time!

I'm a recent convert as well, just was too tired to change the channel after American Idol a few weeks ago, and after 15 minutes was involved in the story.

Andi doesn't like "it was all a dream" episodes, but I was generally intrigued. I did NOT like the gore.

Though, in retrospect, thank god the exploding sack was just a figment of his imagination.

Which brings up another point... there were scenes in which House was NOT PRESENT that supposedly happened only in his mind? Hmmm....

A few weeks ago [livejournal.com profile] synaesthete7 said something very interesting regarding House/Wilson versus House/Cameron. She said that Cameron and Wilson are essentially the same character. If House/Wilson works, then so must House/Cameron. She explained it much more eloquently than I ever could in her LJ entry here (http://synaesthete7.livejournal.com/208660.html).

I'd say Wilson is Cameron in ten or fifteen years, after wising up and mellowing a lot. Cameron's still in her youthful strident, black-and-white phase.

Oh, I totally agree that Wilson is the older, more jaded Cameron, but their similarities are quite striking. (Which is why I can never see Wilson/Cameron. It'd be like they're dating themselves. Way too narcissistic for either of them.)

Oh, I'm so glad I skipped this finale. I hate Cameron (that self-righteous, whining moron) with the heat of 10,000 blinding suns, and even the suggestion that they're thinking of putting her together with House has put the kibosh on the show forever for me. Bleargh. I have no idea why people like such a pallid, talent-free actress or the idiotic, mewling character she plays, but there's no accounting for taste. And I love Hugh Laurie and House so much! Pairing him with (bleh) her is such an insult and disservice to the character -- in other words the writers are really saying that he's like "all men," his lizard brain takes precedent and all he really wants to do is just "tap that ass." Bleah.

I had such high hopes for this show (namely House/Wilson). ::sigh::

The thing witht he House writers is that they can do brilliant emotional set pieces, but they are not that great at stringing the set pieces together to form a coherent emotional arc. So you have Cameron and House's nascent attraction fro one another in S1, which gets dropped like a hot rock when Stacy comes back, and then House is supposed to be obssessed with Stacy, but he forgets to even mention her for episodes at a time, and meanwhile Cameron becomes really pissy and self-righteous for no particular reason, and now at the end of S2 they're starting up the House/Cameron UST again, and...

I don't hate Cameron, but she's been written very inconsistently, and while the actress is definitely improving, she's not in the same class as some of the others on the show.

I'm sorry experience post-surgery was so awful. Mine was confusing but not terrible, probably because it was for a routine procedure I'd planned for and was really looking to having behind me.

I'll be interested to hear what you thing of S1. If you haven't caught the "Three Stories" episode yet, you're in for a treat.

Yeah, if you haven't seen the first season, you really must.
