Meaning of my LJ name

This one's been going around for a bit now... and someone tagged me for it, um, two weeks ago? And, I'm afraid, I no longer remember who it was (I know, I know... they say the memory is the first thing to go).

Explain your LiveJournal name and its meaning.

I've been going by Fenchurch or Fen since I was 14. I picked up the nickname at my very first SF&F convention and it stuck... and eventually, it spread into Mundania, as well, when I ended up with a few fannish friends at a new high school. I started using the name exclusively when I went off to college and, in fact, rackham and I had been engaged for two weeks before he found out what my real first name was.

When I finally got around to setting up an account here on LJ a few years ago (because I'd gotten tired of leaving "anonymous" replies on my friends' journals), Fenchurch was already taken... so I opted for tacking on the first letter of my last name, and declaring it to be a silent E (with musical fanfare by Tom Lehrer).

Hmm, I think I did this already... but mine is a simple rearrangement of the letters in my last name, but almost sounds exotic.

"tomte" fits me since I am grumpy, a homebody who keeps the place tidy, part-Swedish, and I likes me some rice pudding once in a while.

I don't really have a beard, though.
