Remember that cold I thought I'd dodged last week? Well, I guess maybe I should be glad that I had a few days respite. I'm getting to that stage of being all headachy from coughing too much... which means that I either have to live with not breathing very well or feeling like someone is driving a railroad spike through my brain when I cough.

Gonna run out in a minute to pick up some Ry-Krisp, because we appear to be out. My stomach is roiling (it's a side effect of the sinuses, though, nothing really nasty) and I want my favorite sick food... Ry-Krisp with a bit of cream cheese dipped in chicken noodle soup.

Zoë is still as cute as ever... but now she's starting to feel better (after her vaccination on Saturday) and is getting bouncy and restless. We still have almost three weeks to go on her "quarantine" and for the first time I'm beginning to wonder how in the world we're going to manage it. She's already starting to lie in wait for the door to open. We may end up having to put up the baby gate at the top of the stairs and confine Polly up there, just in case Zoë gets into the house. It seems pretty inevitable at this point.

Letting the two of them see and sniff each other with a gate between them is a good way to work into full introductions, I've found.

Hell. I just hope it wasn't me that got you sick. :(

I've just been coughy and miserable myself, and I think it was Gypsy Cold Care tea that helped me turn the corner. It tastes pretty decent for falling under the "herbal remedy" heading, and it's great for clearing you out. You might want to give it a try, especially if you're going out anyway!

Feel better soon.

I've been using Traditional Medicinal's Breathe Easy tea and it's been doing a pretty good job, I'll keep that one in mind, though! Probably should have kept up the tea for the few days I was feeling good... this thing is taking the standard pattern for me with colds: Get the sniffles. Don't manage to get rid of them quick enough. Sniffles migrate to chest. Bronchitis. Not that I have bronchitis yet, but my lungs sure are giving it their all.

Tomorrow will really be the indicator. Today was just plain miserable, but I think I may have managed to keep it mostly out of my lungs. I'm doing abnormally well, to be honest. I used to get these sorts of things about four times a year, sometimes more often. This is the first time it's been a problem in a full year, so I shouldn't be complaining too much. :-p

Even in your illness, Spike is with you. *g*

Do you really need to keep the cats apart that long? It seems awfully extreme, given that Zoe tested negative for the really bad stuff.

Feel better.

Well, part of the problem is that Polly needs to get some refreshers on her vaccinations, too. The last time she was in, she was still getting over her pancreatitis, so they held off... it means she hasn't had any vaccinations for about two years, I think. So, we're taking her in for an exam and shots later this week.

I think the recommendation to wait until after Zoë has had her second batch of vaccinations (i.e. three weeks) is just to be on the ultra safe side. At this point, I'm guessing she'll be inhabiting the downstairs of the house within a week. We put the baby gate up at the top of the stairs, and hopefully that will work when she does eventually get into the rest of the house.

Of course, the other reason to keep her in the garage for as long as possible is to make absolute sure that any fleas she might have are completely dead and gone.

And I forgot to add, yep! It was the very first image that came to mind. Of course, it probably doesn't help that I have an old rusty railroad spike (a gift from a friend) sitting on the desk right in front of my monitor.
