Home and a quick trip
Sep. 9th, 2005 02:58 pmI just realized I haven't updated at all since I got home...
I successfully fought off a cold early in the week. Not terribly surprising that it'd be a problem, after being crammed into a convention with as many as 20,000 other people for the weekend, after two weeks of constantly being on the go, not getting much sleep, and only sporadically eating the way I'm supposed to be. The big surprise is that I didn't get a cold sore first. But as a consequence, I ended up sleeping way too much this week, even though I pulled out of it pretty quickly. And a big thank you to
taradaktyl for recommending Breathe Easy tea... it really did the trick.
It occurred to me that I never once went to White Castle while I was in Kentucky, and usually it's a standard stop when I'm visiting the area. I did, however, eat way too much excellent southern food at various diners and restaurants. If you're ever near Monteagle, Tennessee, I highly recommend trying Jim Oliver's Smokehouse Restaurant and Trading Post. Absolutely incredible food.
On the plus (or rather, happily minus) side of things, I still managed to lose five pounds in the last two weeks... which just goes to show that it's worth trying to get plenty of exercise on vacation, and that even with the decadent southern restaurants, I managed to still eat pretty decently. That makes 25 pounds in the last three months... I really should have gone to a naturopath a few years ago.
Tomorrow, we're heading south for a very quick trip to Portland, OR to visit
corellian_sugar and to pick up an abandoned cat she recently found. We're both pretty excited about this, though I suspect Polly (who has been reveling in being an only cat) won't be as pleased. However, I'm going to be home for a little while and we have some pretty easy ways to keep them separated until they can be fully integrated. Oh, and I've already got an appointment with our vet for the new cat (since there's a good chance she's never been to a vet, or at the very least, not recently), unfortunately not until next Tuesday, which means we'll be keeping the cats separate until then, just in case. :-(

Date: 2005-09-09 11:17 pm (UTC)Congrats on the weight lossage! I think I found that five pounds you lost; they took up residence on my belly and hips, which are now squooshier than ever.
Again, it was really nice meeting you last weekend!

And if you have not had the chance to me corellian sugar, you're gonna love her. She ROCKS. :)
