Kentucky!

No Post-Con Depression for me... it really helps, though, that I'm visiting nmissi for the next few weeks (although I'm really missing rackham already, and it's only been a few days since he flew home from Indy). Plus, next week is Dragon*Con and I'll at least get to see rosiewook and archerrat again!

JadeCon/GenCon were as wonderful as ever, even with the "scaled down" JC this year (there wound up being just as many people as every other year, just a slightly different mix). It was fantastic seeing everyone again, though there were a few people who were definitely missed... maybe next year!

The big news from GenCon was that the Ral Partha line appears to be back in business, churning out old and new lead (or lead substitute, nowadays) figures. Yay! Oh, and someone has finally issued an updated version of Arkham Horror!!! The folks at Chaosium told me, two years ago, that it was in the works and would be out later that year. I'd given up on the whole thing... and then this year, there it was! Produced by a different company and definitely reworked... but hopefully just as fun!

I've missed a ton of stuff on LJ over the past little bit, and I really don't think I'm going to ever be able to catch up on it. :-( I am, however, finally starting to work my way through some of the email that's been piling up over the past few weeks. And I'm hoping to have things set up here, later today, so that I can hook my laptop into the network. So, if you get an email from me commenting on something you only vaguely remember saying, well, now you'll know why!

Oh! And happy birthday to hlynn, who I suspect deliberately kept quiet about it at JadeCon so that no one would be tempted to sing to her!

Yeah, someone else on my friends list has had the new version long enough that he's reported playing it at subsequent instances of his local weekly boardgame night.

Even though it looks quite different from the old one, it still looks incredibly fun an similar enough to fit the bill. It will give us a version that we can play and still have snacks and drinks. Our old Arkham Horror is a White Glove Game (just like Dark Tower), where we're really careful with it during play.

I'm just really glad that DragonCon and GenCon were so close together this year... and that I've got a friend in Kentucky willing to put up with me in between them!

Holy cow, Ral Partha... there's a blast from the past. I haven't thought about those things in years. Beorn has about a bazillion of those in various states of disrepair.
