Bicycling and workouts
Jul. 5th, 2005 11:39 amJust got back from Curves... and you know, it was different. Sounds weird, since I've only gone bicycling twice now, but going to Curves today was more of a *workout* than it's been for awhile. I found myself going a bit harder and faster during the routine... and yet, the one time I took my pulse after the hardest machine (it's the one that works out the thighs, my heart rate is usually through the roof after that one), I'd gone up by a mere 6 beats per minute.
Even more, though, I feel invigorated... like I actually got something out of it all.
While I was there, I was chatting with one of the trainers who happens to be massively into bicycling and who was very excited to hear that I've decided to give it a try. She gave me some tips and some stretching exercises to try, which should help out quite a bit with the morning after stiffness.
I think I'm still going to run by the bookstore today and see about tracking down Bicycling for Dummies or something similar (hey, there's a Dummies book for practically everything else, I can't believe they'd leave that one out). Also think I may run back by the bike shop and snag a speedometer... they're on sale this week, and also function as an odometer and a clock, which is what I'm more interested in. I'd like to know how far I've gone and to be able to better keep track of how long I've been doing it!
But, oh man... those endorphins have been flowing in the last few days.
