Freeing my dolls...
Jun. 13th, 2005 10:39 amYes, I did it... my inner child finally won out over my inner collector and I've been pulling my various BtVS dolls out of their packaging.
The dolls themselves are extremely well done (and they even picked up on some little details -- for example, Angel has the tattoo on his shoulder), although Vampire Spike seems to have a tan, for some reason. But the best things are the accessories.... Vampire Spike comes with a shotgun that includes two shotgun shells... and the cool part? The gun flips open and you can actually fit the two shells into the holes in the back. That is just... neat!
So far, I've opened and set up "Becoming" Angel, The Master, "Prophecy Girl" Buffy, Spike, Vampire Angel, Vampire Spike, and Der Kinderstod (which is almost too tall for the doll stand that came with it). There's only four left and I suspect I'll have those done later today.
Now I just need to decide if I really want to leave them on that shelf... they look great there, but it's also at the base of a bookcase. And now you're probably wondering why that's a bad thing... but you have to keep in mind, we get earthquakes here. I really don't want my nifty cool dolls getting wiped out by a mass of falling books.
When I get them all out, I'll see about taking a picture or two...

Date: 2005-06-13 05:49 pm (UTC)This is ridiculous! I don't even have a good place to display them. The 6-inch Spikes are filling up the top of my entertainment center, and there's no room for a trio of 12-inch Spikes!

Date: 2005-06-13 06:06 pm (UTC)I've just been incredibly impressed with the details on these dolls... I was never really into dolls as a child, but I have always loved the miniature aspect of them. The Sideshow dolls more than deliver in that respect... there's mini-shotguns with mini-shotgun shells, there's a mini-crossbow and a mini-cat-o-nine-tails... and it just keeps adding up. So, so cool.
I did quit picking up the action figures awhile ago... I've got one of pretty much every character and I finally convinced myself I didn't need all the variants. Fortunately, we've got a nice setup down here in the basement... some clear wallspace above the window that's the perfect size for hanging the figures still on the card. Even better, there's a beam running through the middle of the room that's been finished off that's also the perfect size for action figures... right now, I've got my Babylon 5 and BtVS/AtS figures lined up there. By doing that, they're out of the way, and yet I get to see them every day.

Date: 2005-06-13 06:23 pm (UTC)Now I want one more than ever!
The regular Spike doll came with a cute little railroad spike, btw. It looks old and rusty and exactly like the regular-sized old and rusty railroad spike I have sitting next to my monitor (it was a gift from a friend).
