Today's Photo: Shopping

Earlier this year, I got the chance to pledge on Kickstarter for a movie based on the TV show Corner Gas (a series that would very likely make it into my top ten favorite shows of all time, if I were to compile such a list... and a big shoutout to
thebitterguy for introducing me to it in the first place). It's currently in limited release up in Canada for about two weeks, so today we made a run across the border to go see a movie... our first time ever going to see a movie in Canada! (And a question for my Canadian friends, is it standard to not have any salt for the popcorn? We had to grab a bunch of little salt packets to add to ours.)
The other first for me? Seeing my name in the credits on the big screen! Yep... as a Kickstarter backer, I got listed in the credits! So cool!! And, btw, if you were a fan of the show you should definitely see the movie. When you see the cast, it's obvious it's been a few years, but the movie was funny and a really fun way to revisit Dog River. Can't wait to get the Blu-Ray in a few weeks, because I want to watch it again!
Of course, we also took the opportunity to do a little shopping while we were in Canada. There are certain things we always go looking for (All-Dressed flavored chips, chocolate, Tim Bits) and this time we had an eye out for cool Christmas stuff... unfortunately not finding any really good kids' Christmas crackers like we did a few years ago.
In addition to hitting Wal-Mart (there was one in the same mall as the theater), Tim Horton's and Costco, no visit to Canada would be complete without a stop here...

While we didn't find any cool Christmas crackers, we did manage to track down some of the HUGE Kinder Surprise Eggs, so you get some extra photos today!

Those things were gigantic! We did the right thing though and cracked them open before heading back across the border. The law may be ridiculously silly, but we didn't want to risk it. As you might imagine, a much larger egg yields a much larger capsule for the toy surprise inside! I've still got about half the chocolate in pieces in a bag because there was no way I could eat all of that in one sitting, no matter how thin the shell is.
