12 & 13 June Photos
Jun. 22nd, 2014 10:04 pmOkay, I finally feel like I've caught my breath enough to get back to photo posting. Thankfully, I do seem to have managed to attend a major convention without getting Con-Crud. Yay!
On Thursday (12 June), I wandered over to North Market for the first time this year. I love that place... it's like a miniature version of Pike Place Market and it's just a few blocks from the convention and our hotel. I ended up getting some greek food for dinner, as I recall, but got really excited when I remembered the cheese shop, because in the past they've had a nice variety of goat cheeses. And, even better, they have something I've never found anywhere else... goat cheese curd!

It's wonderful squeaky cheese that I can eat without any problems! And I just realized that I left my bag of onion & dill curds in
nmissi's fridge, unopened. Darn it!!
On Friday the 13th, a group of us ventured out to German Village... and had lunch at Schmidt's Sausage Haus. It was funny, because I was looking over the menu and some of the signs and it actually took a bit to realize that it said "Since 1886" and not "1986." I'm really not used to being in an area where things could have conceivably been around since before the 20th century! Two photos for this one, because I can't resist sharing a picture of the food. This was my first time trying sauerbraten and whoa... that was GOOD!

It was served over spatzel, and I got green beans with spatzel as a side, plus potato pancakes and applesauce. Kinda glad this place is so far away, because wow... was that tasty! And hey, you can even see the strip of Magic Pills I was taking with the meal in order to eat it without getting sick. Love those things!
And then a photo out in front of the restaurant, with the lovely brick roads that ran all through that neighborhood.
