30 April - New Bathroom Blinds
May. 10th, 2014 09:40 pmWhile we were gone for the extended weekend, the new blinds for the master bathroom arrived! One of the main things we've been working on this year is replacing the blinds in the house. When we bought it, there were actually some nice, fairly high end blinds in some of the room... but they were probably put in when the house was built 20 years ago and were showing their age. Plus, some of them seemed fairly impractical for where they were placed and for the uses we had in mind for those spaces (as an example, we're getting some sun-blocking (but not blackout) blinds for the dining room that is now our office). Anyway, we wasted no time in getting those suckers installed!
So, the master bathroom has these two fairly large windows that look out over the valley. Which seems great until you consider the fact that there's a reasonably busy road that runs right in front of our house, not to mention neighbors across the street and neither of us is particularly into exhibitionism. Here's how things used to look:

The blinds on the left were identical to the ones that were down on the right. We often opened the left side blinds, simply because it mostly faced away from the road and if we weren't actually in the shower (which is just to the left of that window), odds are good no one was going to see us. But it was such a waste to keep the blinds down all the time on the other window. So, here are the new blinds!

They're the sort that can open from the top or the bottom! It's taken a bit of getting used to, because while you're in the shower, it does sort of seem like you're fully exposed for the world to see... but we're up a bit from the road here and even up from our neighbors across the street. We've done some checking and with the blinds just a few inches higher than that, no one can see you in the shower... and we still get to enjoy the beautiful view!
