May. 6th, 2014 09:52 pmUp toward the north of the beach is Clark's Tree... It's a very cool spot that really stands out among the brush and sand. And believe it or not, that's actually a statue!

It's a replica of the tree on which Captain William Clark (of the Lewis and Clark Expedition) carved his name in 1805. Apparently, the original tree lasted until nearly 1900. There's a bit more info here if you're interested.
