27 April - The view from our room
May. 5th, 2014 10:06 amLast week was, well, not exactly busy... but our time was largely taken up with relaxing and I ended up not updating much of anything. On the 26th, we headed out to the peninsula... staying at a hotel in Gig Harbor and hitting some of the State Park Geocaches (including two I recently adopted because the previous owner got transferred to a base on Guam). On Sunday, we made our leisurely way out to the coast... finally getting settled in at our favorite vacation spot, Inn at Discovery Coast in Long Beach, WA.

This trip was to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary (and seriously, 25 years?!?!? Where has the time gone?!?!) so we splurged and got a top floor room... all nine rooms have great views, but you just can't beat the top floor. From inside the room, it looks like you're right on the beach! I took this one from our balcony, looking north along the beach... the boardwalk you can see there has some lights embedded in the railings that light up at night and it's really quite pretty.
Long Beach remains one of my favorite places to just get away. It's a calm, relaxing sort of place with a lot of great places to go hiking, beaches to walk along, some of the best restaurants in the state and usually some prime kite-flying opportunities.
