The New Sofa!
Apr. 21st, 2014 10:03 pmAnd for today's photo... A new sofa, with bonus coffee table (or, as the box says, cocktail table).

As I'd mentioned earlier, our original plan was to get a new sofa for upstairs and move the old one down here with the loveseat (which has been our main seating in the basement since we finally got the theater up and running), but then we found this sofa and, well, we knew it would work perfectly down there (plus it was on sale!). Both end seats are recliners... the back of the sofa is nice and high and the foot rests that come out are reasonably long (I can stretch out on it and just barely have the heels of my feet over the edge).
The other thing we picked up at the furniture store was the table... something we'd been considering for this space but hadn't given much thought to until we saw all the varieties on the showroom floor. This one just worked so perfectly... when the top is down it looks like a chest style table, but then the top telescopes out and can be used for all sorts of things (in our case, we wanted somewhere to set a keyboard and mouse for the MediaPC). Plus, it's on casters and rolls easily to the side and out of the way.
You can see some of the books in the background there... in their temporary home. We'll eventually be building bookcases into the room, around on most of the walls, at which point I'll be able to set the books on end like they're supposed to be (it's driving me crazy to have them on their backs like that).
Anyway, we watched Jurassic Park in 3D yesterday and oh yeah... that is a really comfortable sofa!
