It's foggy!! I love that about this area, though when it gets this thick it can be kind of scary (it was bad enough tonight I couldn't see more than half a block in front of me). Of course, it's nowhere near as bad as Sacramento, California, thankfully -- I swear that city lives in perpetual dank darkness throughout the winter. At least our fog is broken up by nearly constant drizzly rain and the occasional freakish sunbreak.

Yesterday, I had to take a bit of a detour from my normal route up to Woodinville, and happened to pass the "other" Safeway grocery store (we have two about equi-distant, but I never shop at that one, if I even bother with Safeway in the first place). The Other Safeway was remodeled about a year or so ago and had a gas station added, and for no particular reason other than location and travel routes, I'd not actually set foot in the store since then.

Well, I noticed that the gas prices were a good five to ten cents cheaper than other stations in the area. That's enough of a difference to pull me off the beaten path, and I knew I had a Safeway card around somewhere with my real name (yes, I'm one of those paranoid people who give fake names to grocery stores... just call me Trisha McMillan) that I could probably find if I put my mind to it.

I just got back from filling up my car (at 11:00 at night, I know, I know... but I hate leaving my car nearly empty) and the incredibly good news is that the price listed was the non-member price! Yep, take off another three cents per gallon -- I'm guessing they may be rivaling the prices at the CostCo down in Tukwila, with the added bonus of being just up the road. Yay! I'm too easily pleased, I think.

Even better, the store itself is pretty nifty. Nice looking deli, made to order sandwiches, fresh soups... I think I may have to head up there for lunch from time to time.

Let me know if you actually like anything there at the Deli. I haven't been impressed (I stop there occasionally when I go to the library). There ribs are pretty good, however (though "our" Safeway has those as well) - albeit pricey.

no matter how late at night you must take advantage. The plus side is this...no long lines at the pump and no traffic on the roads. I only wish we had such a think in NJ. Here you can go out at 3am and still get stuck in a traffic jam!

I almost always buy my gas at the local grocery store - and just how weird is that? It's as if supermarkets are going back to being general stores. Our local Kroger is getting more and more stuff like lawn furniture and tv sets. Just. Weird.

Is this the one on 124th?

Yep! That's the one!

And I should add that the other reason I haven't driven by there in so long is the near constant road construction on 124th for the past few years. It's *still* half torn up.

They're STILL working on that? They were working on 124th for at least a year before I moved, and that was, what, two years ago?

I wonder whether they're working toward a spot in Guinness.

Our grocery stores don't have gas pumps (yet), but I do like our local Safeway(s) (we also have two, about equal distance). They have the best grocery-store bakery of all of 'em, at least around these parts.
