Because I was evil and just posted something that mentions the political process. :-)

1. Stop talking about politics for a moment or two.

2. Post a reasonably-sized picture in your LJ, NOT under a cut tag, of something pleasant, such as an adorable kitten, or a fluffy white cloud, or a bottle of booze. Something that has NOTHING TO DO WITH POLITICS.

ETA: Oops. I just realized it said to NOT put it under the cut tag. Well, um, I suck at following directions, so the pics are going to stay under the cut. Neener.

Yesterday, I finally got around to scanning in pictures of Daisy, my mother's miniature Dachshund. They were taken when she was a puppy (though, truthfully, she's not a whole lot bigger as an adult... she just looks more mature), not long after my mom got her.

Daisy was just what the doctor ordered... she was ten weeks old when my step-dad got her for my mom, and my mom was only a few weeks out from her car wreck. She still had to have help getting up and down, her left hand and arm were still wrapped up in a huge bundle of bandages, her right hand and arm were still swollen and bruised, and the rest of the bruises and cuts were still healing (though she'd gotten the stitches and staples out of her head at that point). In short, she still had to have people around pretty much constantly to help take care of her. Daisy gave her someone she could take care of, and her doctor thinks that it was that extra incentive that helped her recover as quickly as she has.

She's so cute! And I'm sure she really was a big factor in your mom's recovery. What a great decision on your stepfather's part.

She'd actually had a Miniature Dachshund before, who had passed away about four years ago. The timing really was perfect, because my mom had just gotten to a point where she'd been talking about getting another a puppy (she'd missed having a dog, and felt it had been long enough that she wouldn't wind up trying to make the new puppy into a "clone" of her old dog).

Daisy really is almost too adorable, though... and since I was there not long after she was brought home and I was generally the only one around who could get up and chase after her, she still thinks I'm some sort of walking toy.
