New TV stand
Jan. 4th, 2014 11:28 pmSince we moved into this house last June, we've had our TV on a small table, with our old printer cart serving to hold the cable box and Blu-Ray player.
In fact, have a photo.

I mean, yeah, it worked... but it sort of made us feel like we were back in college. So, today we headed down to Ikea, which was an ordeal in itself... apparently, *everyone* went to Ikea today. Thankfully, we'd already picked out what we wanted so we were able to spend as little time as possible in the crowds... and the folks at Ikea were once again brilliant in packaging, so we were able to fit everything into my car without any real problems (my legroom in the passenger seat was a bit tight).
Anyway,
rackham got it all assembled this evening (I was able to lend an occasional hand, but we only have one impact driver, so it was mostly a one person job) and it's now all set up with everything up and running... and it looks *so* much better!

I'm afraid it's a bit dark (I took the photo at around 11:00 at night with as much lighting as I could muster). I may try taking another photo tomorrow during the day. It's actually considered a buffet, but we originally spotted it in with the other TV stands on display and thought it would be perfect, especially since it's basically in the area we're also using as a dining room (the real dining room is being used as an office) and this will give us some storage for things like tablecloths.
I've been really impressed with some of the stuff we've gotten from Ikea lately... I mean, their stuff has always been good value for the money, but the buffet is made from solid wood and after it was assembled was extremely sturdy with the added bonus of looking really nice!
The living room is finally starting to come together, though... now we just need to get some more art on the walls!
