Happy new year!!!
Jan. 1st, 2014 11:32 pmWe spent New Year's Eve with friends at their place last night and had a fantastic time! We'd actually intended to leave a bit early (by around 11, so we could be sure to be home by midnight), since we were both still recovering from the last week or so (Christmas, lack of sleep, traveling and then a whole day spent Geocaching), but we ended up having so much fun we stuck around until almost 1:00. The drive home was a bit nerve-wracking... pretty much the whole Seattle area was covered by heavy fog (there's video of the Space Needle going *FOOM* here... it's worth watching. It gives a bit of an idea of what visibility was like here, plus the fireworks are really well done when you can see them (there are times when the entire top half of the Space Needle is pretty much invisible in the fog)) and we were, of course, a bit worried about the prospect of drunk drivers. I was very pleased by the large number of cabs we saw out and about, though!
I set up my Christmas present from
taradaktyl today, on the shelf next to my desk, since it seemed the day for it:
I've wanted one of these ever since I became aware of their existence! Once we dig out some of our LEGOs, I'm planning on replacing the figures (the ones you see there are the ones that came with it). Oh! And if you notice the temp on the thermometer in the background, we've had the fire going in the fireplace all evening and that sucker REALLY heats up the house. The upper temp is from the kitchen, we still need to find a place to hang the outside sensor, you know, outside and the lower temp is what it's like right there at my desk. Toasty!
And I just got done watching the new episode of Sherlock... I really liked how things were handled. Now, keep in mind that while I love the show and I'm definitely hooked, it's still more of a casual thing for me. I'm guessing there's stuff that's going to bug people, but to me, it mostly worked... and I was a bit surprised by how satisfied I felt with how it all played out. I'm trying to decide if I should make another post with spoilers or not, or if I should just wander over to other people's journals for spoilery talk.
