I cannot *wait* for November 2nd to come and go so we can get rid of all these FREAKING political ads... I swear, they're the only thing running on local radio and television, and I'm getting heartily sick of them.

Apparently, now that Mount St. Helens is actually producing lava pretty much constantly, it's no longer an interesting story. I've stumbled across a few small stories about how the lava continues to pour out, the dome is building, and the sky is glowing with the lava's reflected light. But do they give us any pictures or footage?? No. Of course not...

I'm guessing the real problem is that there appears to no longer be any danger of a spectacular eruption blowing away half the mountain... the fact that we've got an active volcano spewing actual lava apparently doesn't measure up.

Sing it, sister! It's utterly absurd. We'll have a break between the local news and the national morning programs, for example, and there will be 3-4 ads that run right in a row. I hate living in a battleground state. It's as if we're under assault.

Hubby was complaining about that last night too, about the lack of images. Still don't got any for you, but I can offer you the link for the official webcam - http://www.fs.fed.us/gpnf/volcanocams/msh/index.shtml (http://www.fs.fed.us/gpnf/volcanocams/msh/index.shtml)

About the political ads, I'm right there with you. Though, I honestly haven't seen near as many as I normally would have. I've been staying pretty clear of media lately...

CT and NY - or at least NYC - are apparently considered a done deal, so I haven't seen a political ad in pretty much forever.

That's a drag about the volcano. I think the glowing sky must look amazing.

Hey, how're you doing with FS S4? I'm well past the halfway point. I'd only seen most of this season once, so I'm really enjoying the rewatch, especially now that I'm deep into the "real story." (There are some fillery eps right at the beginning.)

I've been trying to find out if Indiana is one of the treasured "swing states", but apparently Ohio is more on the edge than we are. It's kind of a shame. One likes to think, esp. after 2000, that one's vote counts for something.

wouldn't it be nice if there were a not for profit 3rd party website listing candidate's career histories from the federal right down to the local level? It sure would make the job of being a responsible citizen a bit easier.

Or, I could just be lazy.

Go to www.electoral-vote.com. Indiana is not a swing state, but even in a decided state, your vote does matter for congressional races.

And yes, that's an excellent idea for candidate information. I haven't seen a total compilation like that -- just specific issues.

I say we sacrifice all the Pacific Northwest political ads TO the volcano. C'mon, Fen. You round up Washington, I'll round up Oregon - and I'll meet you at spewing ash hole for a nice ritual sacrifice... and a nice cup of coffee.

Today the radio announcer here mentioned that MSH magma is pushing up to the surface at the rate of about one dump truck's capacity per second... kind of an interesting way to put it.
