Painting Prepwork
Jan. 29th, 2013 11:42 pmToday's photo isn't terribly exciting and it doesn't even chronicle something that happened today (although that's when it was taken). We've had a pretty much ongoing project to remodel the house for the last eight years or so. It's been going well and we're entering the final stretch, with the last few projects left to do. And, of course, we're now seriously considering putting the house on the market when we're done.
At this point, we're getting ready to paint in the living room, so for now we've got everything piled in the center and a few of the bookcases removed entirely, with everything covered by a plastic sheet (since we'll be painting the ceiling as well as the walls). I'm just astounded by how roomy this makes things feel, while the cats seem to firmly believe that we've done this just to give them a new fort to play in.

It really has been interesting, as we've been packing away each room down to bare minimums, taking out the books and the bookcases, to discover exactly how much room we really have. We keep commenting to each other that if we didn't have the books (or, you know, any other furniture), this house would be plenty big! Except, of course, the books are what makes this our home. It's also been good for reminding us that we need to factor in the depth of bookcases on the walls when we do go househunting. The rooms need to be extra big, since they'll shrink a bit when we get our hands on them.
I'm so excited to be this close to finishing!! After this, we paint the master bedroom and the library... and then we get new carpeting and we're done!
