Monday's photo: Sorting Donations
Jan. 23rd, 2013 08:07 pmLast weekend, our local VFW had a donation drive at a nearby store, gathering items to send to our troops in Afghanistan... so Monday, we gathered to sort through all the items and separate them out for storage until our next box-stuffing later this week.
In the end, we wound up with about 20 of us working on the sorting... the donations were in the large garbage bags you can see piled there and we would take them over to the long table and dump them out, one at a time. From there, people would grab items off the table and then sort them into the boxes on the other tables throughout the room. It actually goes pretty fast, once we all get working on it... and then when the sorting is done, we usually do a bit of work on making individual packaging on some items like Q-tips, cotton balls or even Zip-Lock bags.
I took the photo when we were about halfway through the pile:

After helping at the VFW, I drove out to Snoqualmie Valley to grab a Geocache or two and get in my daily walk... so you get a bonus photo taken out along the Snoqualmie Valley Trail (another old railroad bed that's been converted to trail). It was really hard to decide which photo to go with, but I finally settled on this one. As you can see, this was when we were still deep in the gloom of an ever-present fog (thankfully a little bit clearer at this point or you wouldn't have been able to see a thing.
