Big Rock Road
Jan. 7th, 2013 10:28 pmI've now got less than two months before I'll finish up my two year Geocaching streak and I've been working hard to keep some caches in reserve to find closer to home... for bad weather days or sick days or what-have-you. Which means on days when I've got a little bit of time, I'm ranging out a little farther to make a cache find. Today, I drove out to Duvall again (it's not exactly close to home, but is a fairly short drive away. Perfect!
And since I was going out there anyway, I figured it would be great place to get a photo for the day... especially since the cache I wanted to try finding was out on the old Big Rock Road.
It's a big rock. I can't wait to tell my friends. They don't have a rock this big.

The road is actually split to have each direction drive on either side of the big rock. I remember when we first moved to the Puget Sound, this road was still open and you actually got to drive by the rock... but over the years, shops and a grocery store went in nearby so they closed the road down and made it into a small park, Big Rock Road Park. Weirdly, they put in a new road about a third of a mile or so down the street that they named Big Rock Road... even though it's not all that close the big rock in question. Not entirely sure why they even bothered with that.
According the webpage for the nearby Geocache, the two sequoia trees on either side of it are thought to be over 100 years old and the rock would have been placed there by a glacier around 10,000 years ago.
