Goals for 2013
Jan. 4th, 2013 10:34 pmI don't do resolutions. They're way too nebulous for my liking and when it comes to doing things based on the new year, I prefer to have goals... something where having a definite end date would make a difference, something a bit more concrete. Resolutions I save for my birthday (since it seems like a much better time to make vague promises and commitments about bettering myself).
So for this year, my goals are:
Finish reading 25 books. This seems embarrassingly small, but I'm guessing it will end up being a struggle to finish. I still love reading and I still love books, but I have just never managed to get back in the habit of reading in my leisure time.
Exercise for 30 minutes a day. I was mostly doing this anyway... it's only been since November that I got away from it. I started again at the first of the year and it's been pretty easy to fall back into my old patterns so far.
Finally learn to use the Inkle Loom. I've had the thing for a few years now and I know it's not *that* hard to use... I just need to sit down and figure it out. Maybe I should change this goal to "Make bookmarks for Christmas presents this year" because that would imply learning to use it and then ACTUALLY using it.
Post a photo a day. Already well on my way. I really missed this one after I stopped doing it and I wish I'd never quit.
Help
rackham finish the remodel work on the house. Even if we end up deciding not to sell it, we really need to get that stuff done.
Call my family members at least once a month. I have a horrible habit of forgetting how much time has gone by since I last talked to them. And there's no way of knowing when they might not be there anymore to answer the phone.
I'll probably think of more later, but that's a pretty good start!
I ended up in downtown Kirkland today to find a Geocache and snapped a photo of the Seattle skyline across the lake with my phone... I think it even turned out pretty well (note to self: remember to start bringing a better camera along for these jaunts). I should point out that the city is actually across Lake Washington and on the other side of a hill... so you really are only seeing the tallest buildings there.
Seattle Skyline from Kirkland on a grey day.
