Things that make me go "Huh?"
Sep. 19th, 2004 07:28 pmOkay, just one thing at the moment. Can someone explain to me why in the world the network execs think it's a good idea to do things like tape delay awards ceremonies? I'm speaking, of course, of the Emmy Awards. In this day of cable networks and the internet, only someone who is deeply stupid would tape delay an awards ceremony for a part of the country where said awards are occurring!
Yeah, that's what gets me even more... the Emmies are held in Pacific Time Zone, but we don't get to see them until three hours later. People online are already talking about who won what, and the cable news channels are already listing winners. Why would I want to sit through three-plus hours of award ceremony?
rackham is laughing at me, because I usually complain about having to endure the more boring aspects of these awards ceremonies (of which there are many). It's just that I would love to be able to get into chat with a bunch of my friends and make catty comments about the actors and actresses... but most of them are on the other side of the country, so we're not even close to being in sync.
It still just floors me that they tape delay something that's happening, essentially, locally. The logic of the whole thing complete escapes me... but I guess that just means I don't need to bother sitting in front of the television for far too long tonight.
