This week in photos
Oct. 3rd, 2010 09:38 pmA week or so ago, I realized that I hadn't seen Mr. Mouse for awhile. So, I checked the usual places he gets stuck, had no luck finding him and decided to just keep my eyes open.

For those who haven't been following my LJ for long, Mr. Mouse is a Beanie Baby that used to live on
rackham's desk... until Numfar came to live with us and decided he was hers. She hauls that mouse all over the place now and will throw him at the front door when I leave.
Well, Rackham had scraped up his hand while we'd been out hiking earlier and needed to replace the bandage on it... I was in for a bit of a shock when I opened the cabinet, though, to see Mr. Mouse staring up at me. I have no clue how long he'd been in that cabinet or how Numfar even got him in there in the first place, but I must have laughed for five minutes when I saw him.
We had some nice sunny days, so we spent a good portion of Saturday out prepping the yard and house for winter... which meant finally tackling the gutters.

They were actually pretty bad (there may have even been small trees growing up there). We probably should have worked on them sooner, but it's an easy thing to keep putting off. However, now at least it's done... and so are all the tree trimming and mowing and weeding (which with luck we won't need to do again for awhile).
This week was also the birthday of
tomte and
gidgiddoni's niece, Miss V.

I actually have this shirt and every time I'd wear it, Miss V would comment about how much she liked it... so, I took advantage of our visit to Atlanta to swing by the Georgia Aquarium and get one for her. It was a big hit!
It's once again time for Issaquah Salmon Days and, as the name implies, that means a lot of salmon... plus the Salmon Days 5K!

I still find it so wild that we're the sort of people who do 5Ks (and I've actually done a 10K now, a well). We still don't have our official time, but by my watch it took us 44 minutes. Not bad considering we walked it... of course, we were also passing people who were jogging (something else I find a bit wild).
It wouldn't be Salmon Days without the Kiwanas Club Salmon BBQ!

Always worth grabbing lunch there... and they were very nice in allowing us to buy the "child's plate" (which just had a bit less salmon on it... neither of us were interested in eating the 10 ounces of salmon they put on the adult plate!)
And now for the stars of the show...

Sorry it's not a better photo... I just had my little point and shoot with me and there was a lot of reflection from the crowd. But you can see at least two of the salmon who are partway up the final ladder, returning to spawn.
A much prettier salmon.

I'm not sure if they were advertising something or just part of the celebrations, but these guys were wending their way through the crowds with their giant salmon. I managed to catch them out on the edge when the were turning around.
