April 2 - Numfar Loves High Places

It's always funny to watch Numfar when she's figuring something out... because you really can almost see the gears turning in her tiny kitty brain. She's actually rather fond of the piano... she likes to hop up and step on the keys and then stop to listen to the sound, until I go and pull her off. On Wednesday, though, she hopped on the piano and I looked over at her... in time to see her make some unfortunate connections. She looked at the ledge on the wall next to the piano, then to some boxes on top of the piano and finally to the top of the piano. I immediately went over and moved the boxes (if you look on the floor next to the chair, you can see them... including a Doctor Who Mr. Potatohead). I really hoped that would be good enough, but no. About five minutes after I went back to my desk, I heard the telltale jangle from the piano as she hopped on the keys and then the thump as she got to the top and before I could even quite turn around, ( she was up on the ledge looking VERY pleased with herself. )

3 April - A walk on the Snoqualmie River Trail

I know I've posted photos from this trail in the past, but it never fails to impress me. On Thursday, we were having a bit of a break in the rain, so I figured I'd go for a nice long walk... this trail is now only about a ten minute drive from my house and is a great candidate for days when I just want to *walk* (i.e. not hike). Still not really any leaves on anything, but some of the fruit trees are starting to bud.

4 April - New addition to the household

We have some friends who are moving out of state soon and their teenage son is also getting ready to head off to college... so they thought it was about time to find a new home for their Crested Gecko and we said we'd be delighted to take him! The tank was one that we'd originally given them on pretty much a permanent loan, along with a piece of Malaysian driftwood... they were left over from when we'd had a snake and, while we had considered getting another reptile at some point, we'd never really gotten around to it. So nice to have a reptile in the house again!

( His name is Morty, but we've taken to calling him Muerte. )

ETA: Just heard from his former people and apparently they also would call him Muerte... because he's named after that character from "Undercover Blues"! Wild!

5 April - Dining with a friend

I've been trying to space these out over the last few days so as not to overwhelm my flist... hope I haven't been annoying anyone! I'm just really happy to be very nearly caught up!

Last night, about two hours after we fed dinner to the cats, Numfar came strolling into the room carrying Mr. Mouse, plopped him into Zoë's food bowl and then proceeded to try to lick the otherwise completely empty bowl around him.
