fenchurch: (Fenchurch Place)
So, on Sunday the plan was to meet back at Castleton to do clean up... I ended up being about 45 minutes late (seriously, I really do understand the mechanics behind the freeways/highways/tollways there, but if you're not familiar with the roads, it's remarkably easy to take the wrong left turn option and end up going the wrong way) and almost everything was done, making me very glad I'd stuck around with several other folks the night before to do some of the initial cleaning (but it didn't make me feel any better about missing out on cleanup that afternoon).

I did manage to snap a few photos of the village, though... none of which really do it justice. It's just an incredibly cool place! Here's a shot of the treehouses with a rope bridge. )

My flight home was, thankfully, not as eventful as it could have been. My plane ended up flying out Dallas a bit late, due to a delay in the arrival of our flight crew (who were coming in on another flight), which made me understandably nervous... I only had about a half hour layover in Denver to get to my connecting flight (I normally don't like booking things that close, but I didn't have a lot of choice in the matter). We had a stopover in Kansas City and I managed to get an aisle seat in the second row before any new passengers boarded. I figured if nothing else, I'd be one of the first people off the plane and I could high-tail it to the gate for my next flight.

I had splurged a bit again on this leg of the trip and had gotten the on-board wi-fi... I love the way Southwest does it, just $8 for the day on all flights you're taking to your destination (that, you know, have the capability). Really, if you're going to be in the air for more than two hours, it's pretty much worth it. This time, I was able to update Facebook with my dilemma... that I might be stuck overnight in Denver. At this point, my incoming flight was scheduled to land five minutes before my connecting flight was supposed to leave, and it was still listed as being on time. Thankfully, a Geocacher I know who used to live in the Seattle area, piped up to remind me that she now lives in Denver, not too far from the airport and she would be more than happy to pick me up and let me stay at her place. You have no idea what a relief that was... and, I'll admit, a tiny part of me was excited about the possibility of finding a Geocache in yet another new state.

In the end, it wasn't necessary. Mine was not the only flight that was late getting in, so they decided to hold the departing flight... as I was rushing through the terminal to get to my new gate, I happened to glance at a screen that said the flight was delayed half an hour. Whew!

Anyway, I snapped this shot in the Dallas Love Field airport, just before going through security, of the Texas Ranger statue on display there. )

No joke! A local Geocaching friend first told me about this company and gave me a friendcode to give it a try (the code gave me my first and fifth boxes free... with the "cancel any time" option, but the price isn't too bad for what you're getting) and I've absolutely loved it! I can tell them to leave out things containing certain items (in this case, I'm getting nothing with milk and nothing with cashews (I just really don't like cashews)). Each box comes with four preportioned organic snacks... and so far, for Weight Watchers, they've all been between 2 and 6 Points (and the latter has mostly been stuff that's been filling enough to split up into at least two servings).

The latest box of goodies. )
