fenchurch: (Fenchurch Place)
I *really* wish I'd managed to get caught up before last weekend. And when I didn't, I actually picked out photos, resized them and uploaded them to our server before I left so that I could work on getting things posted here while I was in Texas and, yeah, that didn't work out either (even though I had wi-fi on the plane on both legs of my trip). So, now I'm stuck again with the daunting task of writing things up about the last two weeks. Don't worry, I'll be combining posts again.

First up, we have Friday, 21 March. [personal profile] rackham got off work early and we headed across to the other side of the state and down into Oregon for a Geocaching event called a Cache Machine (more on that later). I snapped this photo at a rest area on the way: The Fred G. Redmon Bridge over Selah Creek, just outside of Yakima, WA )

Saturday, 22 March was the Hermiston Cache Machine... )

On Sunday, 23 March, we decided to hit a few more caches around town... including one puzzle cache that Rackham wanted as his 3000th cache find. )

Ever since we got the chairs for the breakfast bar in the kitchen, we've had spectators while we cook. )

On the 25th, I just had to get another photo out across the valley in front of our house, now that the cherry tree across the street is in bloom. I never get tired of looking at that view. )

fenchurch: (Cake is a Lie)
A few days before his birthday party, I asked [personal profile] rackham what sort of cake he would like... he rather apologetically told me that he really wanted to have german chocolate cake ("apologetically" because I love the stuff, but can't eat it without taking pills and still risking a reaction). I told him it was fine, I'd just find a place to buy a cake for the party and maybe pick up a vegan cupcake at PCC or make myself a small chocolate trifle (I made one at Christmastime and really liked it). At which point he said 'I changed my mind... I want chocolate trifle!' )

One of the reasons Rackham has been working hard to get the theater in the basement up and running was because he wanted to have it ready to show off for his birthday party... so we could actually have a bunch of people over at once for the first time in the new house. As I think I've mentioned, Numfar is very shy of People Who Aren't Us and tends to go hide under our bed whenever we get invaded by guests. Since we moved to the new house, she's actually been known to come out and meet visitors after they've been in the house for a little while, but the half dozen or so we had that night were apparently a little overwhelming for her.

After the party was over and the guests had left, Rackham headed back to our bedroom while I was doing stuff in the kitchen and I heard him give a surprised laugh and call for me. When I saw why he was laughing, I just had to get a photo: Mr. Mouse on guard duty. )
