Mar. 21st, 2014 12:51 pmIt's interesting how differently animals will react to the same thing... our first cat, Cymry, was absolutely and completely terrified of water (in fact, she had kidney issues that we think may have been largely caused by her terror of getting near water, even to drink it... she would stand as far away as she could and dip her paw in the water then drink it that way (or she'd lick leftover water off the bottom of the shower floor). Anyway, for the 15+ years we had her, every day when I took a shower she would sit in the doorway (or on the other side of the door, if I closed it) and scream and yowl... because, obviously, I was being tortured to death by all that water running over me. After she passed away, it took awhile to get used to showering in peace and quiet. Our other cats during that time, Pixel and then Polly, didn't ever even seem to notice the shower (which was probably a good thing).
Zoƫ has recently developed a fascination with water and will run into the bathroom to watch the water in the toilet if she hears it being flushed... and she'll also try to pry open the door to the shower so she can see the falling water more clearly. There have even been a few times when she's tried to get in the shower with one of us, although she always backs away after she gets hit with the first drop of water.
( But Numfar... she goes on guard duty. )
