fenchurch: (Cake is a Lie)
On Thursday, we started off the day at Disney's Hollywood Studios... I hit the Rock'n Roller Coaster a few times, Tower of Terror once and Star Tours a couple of times. The one thing that park is seriously lacking is good places to eat. The Sci-Fi Dine In Theater is a lot of fun, but the food isn't something I'd choose if I had my druthers and so I ended up at one of the little outdoor eateries with a surprisingly tasty pretzel dog (figuring to get something small-ish and then have a larger dinner at a different park).

One of the best parts about the lunch, though, was the new friend I made. )

After spending the morning at one of the parks, I dropped my friend K off at our hotel room so she could take a nap before her work shift (she's in Orlando right now working for Disney in their student program) then headed out to find a Geocache. I'd done a bit of research and had found what looked to be a promising Travel Bug Hotel at a nearby Regional Park to drop all the trackables I'd brought with me (it may not have been such a good idea, since a few days later the cache was reported missing :-( ). After stopping by that one, I checked out the rest of the park on my GPS and discovered there were at least three other caches... and decided to take advantage of the trail/boardwalk system to get some real walking in, away from the pressing crowds of the Disney parks. I was rather delighted to discover that the park didn't just have a forest, but was in fact a swamp! )

If I thought we had to be up obscenely early on Sunday, then Saturday proved me wrong. After finally falling asleep around 1:00am (because of course I knew I needed to sleep and of course that meant I couldn't get my brain to shut up), we had to get up at 3:00am to get ready for our flights out. Ugh. Although, to be honest, I probably did a whole lot better with just two hours of sleep than I would have if I'd had four or five (as it was, it felt like I'd had a really good nap, rather than having a night's sleep be interrupted). Also on the plus side, we discovered at the airport that we'd been upgraded to first class!! I'd never flown first class before and wow... was it NICE. I even managed to take a couple of short cat naps (something I can never seem to do in regular airplane seats). We had a nice layover at Chicago O'Hare Airport... shockingly, my first visit there (I usually fly Southwest, which goes through Midway) and I found an even bigger light wall than the one at Dulles! )

One of the things I ended up bringing back with me from Florida was a really nice cold (oddly enough, I usually seem to bring back a head/chest cold when I visit there). Between that and not really getting much sleep the night before (or really for the entire time I was in Florida), I ended up sleeping about 13 hours straight, getting up late Sunday morning. When I finally got to a point where I thought I could handle going outside, I did a bit of searching on Geocaching.com and found an easy park and grab cache up in Sultan, WA... because, yeah, I'm still working on my ludicrously long Geocaching streak.

The cache was located in a little roadside park, right off Highway 2. )
