fenchurch: (Huh Kitty)
I can tell we really don't ever use our bathtub for, you know, taking baths. I had a massage today and my therapist recommended an epsom salt bath (not a standard thing, but I had some issues that he thought would be helped by it). So, I picked up some epsom salt on the way home, filled the tub, dumped in the salt and climbed in... then looked over to see two cats with identical expressions of o_O.

Seriously, they were looking at me like I was out of my freakin' mind and kept popping their heads over the side of the tub to stare disconcertingly at the water then look up at me in alarm. So funny! Of course, I was also reminded of why we don't ever take baths in this house... the bathtub is *shallow*. It's one of the things that's a requirement when we go househunting. The tub needs to be deep enough to actually be effective.

It also made me think of our cat Cymry, who was convinced that water was some sort of evil demon put on the Earth to torture us. We currently have one of those fountain style water dishes for our cats and we never would have gotten away with that back when we had her... she would have died of thirst before drinking from moving water. And for the 15 or so years we had her, I rarely had a day when there wasn't a cat sitting in the doorway to the bathroom (as close as she would dare to get when the shower was running or there was water in the tub) and yowl through my entire shower, apparently convinced I was being tortured to death. It was a bit disconcerting after she passed away, because I'd gotten so used to it. Nowadays, Numfar just sits on the toilet and waits for me to get out (or, and I'm not kidding, goes to get her Beanie Baby Mr. Mouse to watch the shower for her).
