fenchurch: (Winter Lighted Trees)
A week ago, we had a wonderful Saturday. It was sunny, it was warm... it got up to 78 degrees. Everyone in the neighborhood was out doing projects and chatting, it felt like we were all coming out of winter hibernation. And this weekend? Record low lows and record low highs and snow.

It was a bit funny, really, because when I drove [livejournal.com profile] taradaktyl and her daughter down to the airport late this morning, it was beautiful again... with a clear blue sky and the sun shining and the temperatures edging up over 50. I decided to make the most of my drive to the south end by visiting Ikea and then Fry's Electronics... and was marveling at the reports of "blizzard-like conditions" I was hearing on the radio. By the time I got up to [livejournal.com profile] rackham's office in Redmond, it was starting to get a bit overcast and when we left there, it was hailing. Which turned to bigger hail and then rain and snow then finally to snow. It's been switching between snow and slushy rain all evening and we've been getting that incredibly weird weather phenomenon known as Thundersnow! The snow is even starting to stick to the grass a bit. Freaky!

I'm rather glad we don't live any further north, because the video I've been seeing out of Everett looks like the middle of winter, with snow piling up everywhere.
