fenchurch: (Spring Tulips)
What a fantastic day!! The skies are clear and the sun is shining and they're saying we may even get up to 70 this afternoon. We've got all the windows and doors open and it feels incredible to get some fresh air flowing... especially since we're supposed to return to our regularly scheduled Puget Sound Spring by Monday (i.e. overcast and drizzly and cool).

First thing this morning, [livejournal.com profile] rackham ran over to The Door Store in Shoreline to pick up the doors we'd ordered as part of the Amazing, Ever-Expanding Laundry Room Sink Replacement Project. It's still going to be awhile before they can be installed (we want to have the tile down on the floor first), but I'm so excited to have them! Nice, normal looking doors that we are NOT going to paint dark brown (death to dark brown!!). And the french-style doors (or whatever they're called -- wood framed with small panes of glass) are going to be SO cool. We're thinking we may try to get some of the same style for the closet doors in the two spare rooms upstairs (there are windows in those closets and this style of door would allow even more light into the rooms), and we're definitely going to put one going into the Junk Space Room... which will put even more natural light into the hallway. But those are projects for a much later date.

The other thing we did this morning was round up a bunch of the junk that's been accumulating around the house and Rackham has run it all to the transfer station (aka the dump). We had several old doors from the Replacement Project that really aren't reusable, as well as the old door frames, the old carpeting from the hallway and all sorts of miscellaneous bits of junk from around the house... it made for a fairly full load.

A little later we'll be hauling a large load to the donation center. I'm so excited to be getting this stuff out of the house. We do this every few months and it seems like we're never going to run out of things we don't/never did need or that have outlived their usefulness. And that's not counting all the stuff we've given away on Freecycle!

Now we need to find someone to take the old toilet and get it out of our garage... hey Northwest folks, know anyone who could use a light blue-ish gray toilet most likely made in the 1980s? It's in good shape, it simply doesn't match the new tile we're putting into that room.
