My followup appointment with the orthopaedic surgeon on Monday went really well. Some details under the cut )

The drive back was great... probably the best road conditions we've had in the last month. We were so worried, too, because in Pullman and Colfax it was snowing heavily and the wind was whipping through... with packed snow and ice on all the roads. We got about five miles out of town and it all went away. Very bizarre.

The other thing to come out of my followup appointment is that my surgeon cleared me to start back at Curves (with the caveat that I be VERY careful with my shoulder). So, today I headed in for the first time in three months. I was careful... not using one machine at all and not using my left arm in several others (there was one I couldn't even get my arm into, must less use... it just doesn't bend that way yet). I left feeling pretty good, a bit bouncy (which is fairly typical for me when I exercise). I got home and before too long started feeling *tired*. I made the stupid decision to lay down "for just a little while" and read. Ha! Within five minutes I was zonked... and slept pretty soundly for two hours, when the phone rang and woke me up. At which point I discovered I was SORE. Yeah, doing a full workout, even a careful one, after not being able to do much more than go on the occasional walk for the last three months? Kinda dumb. Thankfully, I'm feeling much better now.

[livejournal.com profile] gillo mentioned her Shelfari bookshelf yesterday and I figured now was as good a time as any to get around to setting one up. If anyone has an account there and wants to friend me, my bookshelf is here. A few of you probably already have requests pending from me... I did a bit of checking around to see if there was anyone I recognized. So, if you're wondering who that Podkayne person is... that's me! I have a feeling Shelfari is going to start sucking up my time. It's pretty addictive entering books into their database, while going through my own database here at home. It's also inspiring me to finish cataloging the books we've got here, since we've only done the SF&F at this point.

We just got back from a quick run to CostCo (because not only do they have the cheapest gas, but they also make a fantastic margherita pizza) and saw THE coolest thing. Seriously, they need to make these for adults. Actually, we half-way seriously considered buying one for the guest room, except that the bed is too long to fit in there (it would fit in the master bedroom but would pretty much fill it end to end -- are there kids out there with bedrooms that big?!?).

Behold, a picture of the coolest bed ever -- The Pirates of the Caribbean Twin Trundle Bed! )

In case anyone is interested, you can also see it and order it out at the CostCo website.

We may also have briefly considered the idea of getting one to put down here in the library... but it would take up way too much of the room, really. No matter how cool it is, we need that space for books. And classic console systems.
