I just met Grant Imahara!!! Squee!!!
Aug. 12th, 2006 04:23 pmAnd I got his autograph! I also got to meet Kari Byron (which was also quite cool) and got her autograph for
rackham to hang in his office and make all his co-workers jealous. Grant was really sweet, very talkative and, I think, just a little overwhelmed. This is apparently the first time they've done something like this and I don't think they were expecting this sort of response. The guy in front of me had made a comment about him being a celebrity and Grant was adamantly denying it... so I mentioned that anyone with an autograph line that long is definitely a celebrity (it wrapped around the autograph area and went down the aisle). He gave a quick, panicky look at the line (I don't think he'd realized how many people were waiting), and commented that it was a really different experience, but at least when he's not at the autograph booth, most people don't recognize him right off.
ETA: For those scratching their heads, asking "Who the heck is Grant Imahara?" He's one of the people on the Mythbusters team (You can take a look at his bio on the Mythbusters site). Yeah, it was a geek moment. Plus, he's really cute.
I haven't posted much, mostly because there hasn't been time... it seems like I've been going non-stop all weekend! JadeCon has been a blast this year with tons of fun stuff to do (but then, there always is) and lots of fantastic people to hang out with. There's also very little in this world more fun than going to see a movie (POTC:DMC, in this case) with a bunch of people in costume!
I keep forgetting to take my camera with me, so I suspect I'm going to have to snag photos from other people after they get them uploaded.
More later when I have more time!
