Sleeping in...
Jun. 24th, 2006 10:44 amWow. I slept for nine straight hours last night! And I apparently needed the sleep, because I'm certainly not suffering from that over-slept grogginess I usually get when I've slept too long. It's also the longest I've slept in one fell swoop since the accident, which I think is a marvelously good sign (usually, I sleep well for about the first four hours, when the pain-killers are most active, and then sleep restlessly for another two or three until I give up and get up).
I'm still not sure if I'm going to Utah this weekend. How's that for indecisive?
I do know that I likely won't be leaving today, unless I really get a move on... since I've slept through a good portion of the morning! However, I really only need to make it part of the way -- in fact, my big goal would be to reach Pendleton, Oregon (which is showing up on Mapquest as only being 4.5 hours away). It's even in the same time zone, so I could leave this afternoon and still get there at a decent hour. Hmmm.
I'm also going to have to fight traffic just to get to the freeway, and I expect it's going to be horrible. They've shut down I-405 (for the next five days!!), right around the point of the major street that runs near our house. This means they're routing all the traffic from the interstate around our neighborhood (but, thankfully, NOT through it). Although, really, that may just be another very good reason to get the heck out of Dodge.
ETA: Well, I'm putting off the drive until tomorrow. Oversleeping cut into my prep time for the trip, so I still have a bit of packing and errand running to do... I finally decided I'd be better off taking my time with it today, get everything done I need done and then leave early in the morning. That also means my goal tomorrow will be for something closer to Boise... with a lengthy stop in La Grande, Oregon to rest and to visit my mom (and use her broadband).
