Days of Our Lives (yes, the soap opera)

I blame shipperx (and maybe nutmeg3 just a bit, since I might have resisted if she hadn't talked about today's episode in her LJ).

First off, have soap operas always been this bad? I mean, *really* bad? I know I'm a little different from the average soap viewer... back in the day, when I actually used to watch those sorts of shows, it was the summer-time action/adventure (and occasionally Sci-Fi) plots that dragged me in and sometimes the characters would keep me there after those plots were over, but I could have sworn they used to be much more watchable than this.

So, I saw the posts about the happenings on today's show... and being on the West Coast, it gave me plenty of time to get my curiosity piqued. It was fun to see old characters again, but oh, good heavens... was that BAD.
