Today we experienced the world's most inefficient shopping trip. We had a list, a wonderful list, and we'd even planned ahead, bringing a cooler with some ice packs for some of the things we'd planned to buy that needed refrigeration. And we still ended up heading out, hitting the store, realizing we'd forgotten something important at home, heading back with the stuff we just picked up, grabbing what we forgot, driving out again and realizing that we needed yet another thing back home and, well, you get the idea.

rackham has been well and truly bit by the Alton Brown bug... earlier this week while I was in Club Jade chat, he was upstairs happily watching episodes of "Good Eats." I know this because at one point he came downstairs and announced that we needed to buy all new pots and pans. Turns out Alton had given the recipe for something called 40 Clove Chicken (as in cloves of garlic) which required a pot that could go from stovetop to oven, and Rackham *really* wanted to try it. This is really not such a bad idea (the new cookware, that is, though the chicken sounds like it should be good too), since most of our stuff is nearly 17 years old, having been given to us as a wedding present. So one of the many trips today was made to CostCo, where we eventually purchased (after first running back out to the car, calling tomte down in Oregon and having her look something up on the internet for us) a set of "professional grade" hard anodized aluminum pots and pans (oh, yeah, the word titanium belongs in there somewhere too), for an incredibly good price. Guess what we're having for dinner tomorrow night!

Oh! And I finally picked up a hair dryer! Yay! I had to abandon my old one atnmissi's house because I'd picked up way too much stuff at the various conventions for it to fit back in my bag. With my hair now long and straight, I've found this is a very important thing to have around, if I want to get anywhere in the morning without wet hair.
