Very quick update as it's now 4:00am
Visited the largest hunk of granite in the world (aka Stone Mountain). It's actually pretty impressive, especially since everything around it is relatively flat. Oh! And there's great cellphone reception at the top, so of course I tried calling people to share and only succeeded in reaching my mother (who probably appreciated it more than anyone else I could have called, anyway :-p).
I got to see Ookla the Mok in concert!!!! *fangirlish squee* I got to actually talk to Rand and Adam and get their autographs... it was so freaking cool!!! I've also now been introduced to the fannish song stylings of Luke Ski... and got to see Tom Smith perform, as well! The man is too funny, and he truly is the master of the insta-filk! Between them all, I ended up buying quite a few CDs (though thankfully there was only one Ookla the Mok CD that we didn't already own).
Not long after that,
nmissi called (cellphones are *so* necessary if you're going to DragonCon with other people) and said she'd found a surprise for me when she went out to smoke. Pretty soon she pops into view with, as it turned out,
kcarolj65 in tow! They'd started chatting in the smoking area and realized they had a mutual friend: me! So we actually got to meet in person, without even trying!
The three of us headed up for the end of the Buffy Prom, which wasn't bad, but played some fairly lame music... or, I should say, music I didn't really know. Everyone else seemed to be enjoying it just fine. Did a bit of dancing for the first time in, well, way too long to think about (which is so weird, because that was one of the primary reasons I used to go to conventions). Now I'm very sore and very tired, but much fun was had. Still need to work on meeting up with a few people. I ended up not getting to the convention until a little later in the day (see above re: Stone Mountain), and by that time it was such a madhouse I figured it'd be better to wait until tomorrow.
